The Atari ST, STE, Mega, Mega STE, TT, and Falcon computers running Atari TOS, Geneva, MagiC, MiNT, or compatible Operating Systems is one of the most versitile computers around. Still to this day I think I use more different software titles for these computers than any others. While it is true that a lot of things can be done better on the 68K Macintosh, Amiga, or RISC OS the Atari still holds a place as a usable fast system. There are some advantages to the simplicity of TOS when doing many things.

I have used just about every Multitasking TOS or extension that I know about, though I prefer Geneva with NeoDesk by the USA based company Gribnif_Software. This is a cooperative Multitasking AES replacement that has good compatibility with most TOS Atari Software and is more responsive than the Preemptive Multitasking alternatives.

There is no question of the advantages of the Atari ST line of computers, from simple eloquent design, to an eloquent Operating System that is easily and widely cloned, to programs being small as a norm. Everything about these computers is a positive, including the choice of CPU ISA.

For my usage the Atari TOS based systems and clones are extremely useful for many things. It is hard to say for sure, though it is likely that Atari TOS clones make for my second most used Operating System behind RISC OS.
